lodge in north village at purple tower mountain, Bai ju yi 宿紫閣山北村 白居易

travel "purple tower peak" in morning,
lodge in the village down the mountain at evening.
the village elder meets me happily,
offers me a cup of wine.
just before the drinking,
violent men break into the door.
bring axes wearing purple clothes，
ten or more in total.
grab the wine from our feast,
take the food on the plate,
the host stands back ,
with hands together like a guest.
at the yard there is a precious tree,
it has lived for thirty years.
what a pity it cannot be kept,
they axe the tree's root.
claim they are to use for construction
and working for the 'Shen Ce' army.
" Be careful of your words my host,
  the army now is the emperor's favorite."

晨遊紫閣峰，暮宿山下村。
村老見予喜，為予開一尊。
舉杯未及飲，暴卒來入門。
紫衣挾刀斧，草草十餘人。
夺我席上酒，掣我盤中饗。
主人退後立，斂手反如賓。
中庭有奇樹，種來三十春。
主人惜不得，持斧斷其根。
口稱采造家，身屬神策軍。
“主人慎勿語，中尉正承恩!"
